combine a complete tour on Kefalonia island with a swimming stop at the crystal clear blue waters of Assos beach

Departure from the Port of Fiscardo and drive towards the west part of the Island. The actual drive is a very scenic coastal drive through charming small villages, beautiful wine yards, olive trees and breathtaking thick cypress glade.

Our first stop will be Agios Gerasimos Nunnery. It was founded in the 16th century. Gerasimos Notaras became monk when he was very young, he was from Trikala og Corinth and his family originated from Constantinopolis. He visited the Holy Places, Zante and he arrived at Cephalonia in 1560. He died in 1579 and was declared Saint from the patriarch in 1622. His body is kept in a reliquary at the monastery. In the church is also the entrance of the cave where he lived, where the visitor can can wonder around. The cave consists of two rooms and here takes place a strange phenomenon: The hole that unites the two rooms, even though it’s very narrow, allows the entrance to all visitors, no matter their dimensions, and even though it’s muddy, it doesn’t dirt them. The monastery celebrates twice a year, on august 16th and october 20th, and each time a litany takes place. The monastery is surrounded by the Omala valley, where the 40 wells of St Gerasimo are.

After this visit, we drive to Sami for free time in this charming little village.  Sami, or "Vale d' Allessandria" as was called back to the 16th century, is a small village in the Eastern Kefalonia and the main port of the island. Sami was provided globally in 2000, when the film "Captain Corelli's Mandolin" was made here, charming with its natural beauty and the exotic beach of Antisamos. Sami's history, however, goes back to the antiquity and as proven by numerous excavations and finds is quite rich and important.

Leaving from Sami, we stop above Myrtos beach for photos and then we continue our drive to Assos.

This graphical small village of Assos, located exactly on the small piece of land that connect the mainland of Kefalonia to an isolated miniature island on which we can see a picturesque castle, around the narrow streets. Free time for swimming.
