Lesvos/Mytilini- Tour to Agiassos Village & Terriade Museum

As you leave the town of Mytilini behind, enjoy a drive through the beautiful countryside until you arrive at Olympus Mountain, carpeted with lush pine and olive trees. Proceed on, and drive up to the traditional mountain village Agiassos. Here you will leave your motor coach and enjoy a guided walking tour through this historical village. Marvel at the well preserved houses before continuing on to visit the Church of the Virgin Mary. Her icon is attributed to the Apostle Luke, and is not to be missed. . The Church of Panagia (Virgin Mary), with its majestic bell tower, was built in 1170 as a triple-aisled basilica and took its present-day form in 1815.

Your next visit will be to the local Terriade Museum. The Museum opened its doors to the public in August 1979. Stratis Eleftheriades- Teriade (1889-1983) was an inspired publisher. From his cooperation with the leading artists of the 20th century, were born the so-called Great Books, which are the most important exhibits of the Museum. Here you will see the exhibition of Terriade's 29 "Great Books." In the Museum are also exhibited works by: Baudin, Bornard, Bores, Giacometti, Grimaire, Laurence, Le Corbusier, Leger, Matisse, Miro, Picasso, as well as by: Giorgos Vakirtzis, Theophilos Hadjimichail, Manolis Kalliyiannis, Orestis Kanellis, Callirhoe Marouda, Giorgos Rorris, Yiannis Tsarouchis. Among the exhibits are five books illustrated by Chagall. After the visit of this unique museum you will return directly to the port and the ship.
