More than 17,000 visitors from nearly 90 countries from around the world will be visiting « Posidonia 2012 ».The event will be held during June 4-8 at to the exhibition area of Metropolitan Expo in Athens Greece. Posidonia is a global business forum, which highlights the contribution of Greek shipping to the national economy and its future development prospects.

Posidonia contributes for almost 40 years since its foundation to the sea trade of Europe and grows year after year having become the most recognizable maritime forum in Eastern Med.

While the final preparations are under way, all the available space for the exhibition has already been booked from traditional Posidonia exhibitors, as well as newcomers. This year the exhibition has been transfered to a new establishment of ​​45,000 square meters, due to the increased demand from exhibitors and offers an enriched list of conferences and sporting events. These are the main factors that will make the 23rd Posidonia the largest in its history.

Besides the obvious benefits of Greek shipping, Posidonia restores the image and reputation of Athens, making it a destination of important international trade shows. As a result of this year’s report it is expected to flow into the local economy of Athens about 50 million euros in a week, an amount that is expected to be spent by the exhibitors in stand construction, transportation, equipment, Athens hotels, restaurants, travel and hospitality services.

Posidonia represents an important part of revenue regarding the international Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) events of the country. With four nights on average per visitor and an average spending of 500 euros per night for each one of the 10,000 international visitors and businessmen participating in the exhibition it is estimated a total expenditure of about 2,000 euros per person during their stay in Athens.
