this shore excursion takes you to one of Greece's natural highlights, the blue caves. This rare landscape has been voted one of the top 100 destinations in the world!

Board your air-conditioned coach and admire the breath taking scenery as you travel to the North of the island to the village of Skinari. From here you will journey to the stunning Blue Caves in Skinari discovered in 1897.  The name comes from the colour of the water, a mixture of aquamarine and turquoise, created by the light refracting from the walls of the caves. You will go into the caves on small boats where you will see the interesting arches of the caves created by thousands of years of erosion. Your tour will continue to the dramatic west coast to Navagio. You will look down from the cliff top onto Smugglers Cove, where the wreck of the ship “Panayiotis” can be seen on the beach. The remains of the ship is in the middle of a large white sandy beach with amazing turquoise waters. This superb beach is located in the eastern part of the island and is one of the most famous beaches in Greece. You will head southwards to the picturesque village of Macherado, to visit the church of Agia Mavra or the Black Madonna. The church of “The Black Madonna” is one of the most famous churches on the island, and it is considered to be one of the most important in all of Zakynthos. Located in the village of Macherado, the Church has recently been fully refurbished after a catastrophic fire. The last stop of your trip, you will visit Bochali and will have the chance to take some stunning photographs of the island. Here you will find the ramparts of the old Venetian fortress above the village of Bochali, overlooking Zakynthos town. From Bochali Square you can survey the entire town below and most of the south coast of the island.  On a clear day it is possible to see the Pelopponese on mainland Greece.  You will find here the church of the Virgin Chrystopighi dating back to the 16th century.  The original building was located alongside the castle walls and collapsed during the earthquake in 1953.  The iconostasis and icon were brought from Crete and date back to 848 A.D..
