get the most with this shore excursion, in only 5 hours: enjoy a wine tasting session, understand cretan history, explore religious monuments of the region and visit the local archaeological museum

You will board your coaches for a drive to Akrotiri (peninsular) on the outskirts of Chania town. On the hill of Prophet Elias you will see the Tomb of Eleftherios Venizelos. Venizelos was an eminent  Greek  revolutionary, who was elected several times as Prime Minister of Greece, serving from 1910 to 1920 and from 1928 to 1932, Venizelos had such profound influence on the internal and external affairs of Greece that he is credited with being "the maker of modern Greece”. From this vantage point you will have the opportunity to admire the beautiful view of the entire town of Chania.

Continuing your tour, you will visit the Monastery of Agia Triada, which is situated at the base of a densely planted hill of olive trees and vineyards. The façade of the church with its Doric columns reflects strong Venetian influences. Inside there are beautifully painted icons of the Virgin Mary, St. John the Baptist and the Prophet Elias.

Then you will be on the way to Alikambos winery (website: www.dourakiswinery.gr ) where you will have the opportunity to taste 4 glasses of different wines. The route to the winery is on the highway for about 20’ min and then for 5 km approx. you will take a nice rural road up to the venue visited.

Continuing your tour, you will visit the Archaeological museum of Chania housed in the katholikon of the Venetian monastery of St. Francis. The Museum contains finds from the Minoan time, finds from pre historic caves, Jewellery , and many other items which date back to the 14th & 15th century B.C.

You will then be guided through the town of Chania visiting wonderful sites, once the tour is over you are then free to explore the old town of Chania.
