take your time with this shore excursion and visit Lindos, village and site and the old medieval city of Rhodes. All above combined with a typical greek meal in selected restaurant

A drive of 90 minutes along the east coast of the island will bring us to Lindos the most beautiful village on the island. The village has been declared a monument for preservation and so has been able to retain most of its traditional color and charm.Above the white homes of Lindos and the blue of the Aegean rises the acropolis, sacred to the goddess Athena Lyndia and a mighty fortress.

You may walk to the Acropolis (15 minutes) or hire a donkey to take you part of the way. The ancient sanctuary is built in levels leading upwards. At the highest of points is the temple of Athena Lyndia (4th c. B.C.). Within the acropolis are also the remains of a Byzantine Church and the fortification of the Knights of St. John. From the top you may look down on St. Paul’s Bay, where it is said the Apostle first set foot on the island in the year 52 A.D.

Down from the acropolis, there will be time to walk the narrow streets of Lindos, visit its medieval church, shop or sit to have a cool drink in one of many cafes. From the village, we go to a beach restaurant for lunch. After lunch board again the bus for the Old Town of Rhodes.

As you enter the Old town, you will start a walking tour where you will see the Street of the Knights and Grand Master’s Palace, a fortress was purposely built here to dominate the town and the harbors. Construction on the Palace began at the beginning of the 14th century. It was destroyed in 1856 and rebuilt in 1929 by the Italians. When the walking tour of the Old Town is completed, you will find numerous shops where you can purchase souvenirs. At the end of the tour, you have a choice of returning to the ship with the coach, or staying in the old town for a stroll around the shops. The walk back to the ship should take approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
