Enjoy the beauties of Parga and discover the glorious history of the surrounding archaeological sites

Depart the port Parga by your motorcoach and guide drive to reach the historical area of Acheroussia Lake. Continue on along the coastal road passing by sandy beaches and untouched villages until you arrive at the southern cape of Preveza and the Roman City of Nikopolis. The ancient city was built during the 1st Century BC by Octavian Augustus Ceasar to celebrate the victory against Mark Anthony’s and Cleopatra’s fleet. The site you will visit today dates back to the Christian times. Marvel at the Justinian Wall, the Paleochristianic Basilica and visit The Odeon as well as the local museum, where you will be able to see interesting exhibits from the ancient Greek and Roman times.

Reboard your motorcoach and taking the same road, find yourself at the site of Nekromanteion, “The Oracle of the Dead” located on a hillside near Messopotamos Village. According to ancient legend, the local tribes of Thesprotes used this oracle as a way of communicating with the dead. The site was connected with the local Kingdom of Hades, king of the underground world and dates back to the 18th Century as well as the polygonal walls which surround the so-called labyrinth and the ruined installations of the destroyed holy Altar of Hades. From here, you are able to enjoy the magnificent view of the Acheroussia Lake, today dry, and the green fields, which have replaced it. Carefully follow your guide and step down to the lower lever to visit the legendary cave. Afterwards, return to your motorcoach and drive back Parga and the ship.
