The tour starts from the very well preserved architectural complex Bodrum Castle, the most fascinating site to visit in Bodrum. The castle was used by the knights to carry out raids in the Aegean Coast and served as a refuge for Christians fleeing Turkish captivity. The castle today houses the Museum of Underwater Archaeology. After the castle, you will visit the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus which is walking distance from the castle. What remains of the mausoleum is- a foundation, a jumble of masonry and tumbled columns- belies its original greatness as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. A short walk from the Mausoleum will bring us to the amphi-theatre with a splendid view of the town and the castle.
