Tour to Eva Ouzo distillery, Terriade & Theofilos museums.

A gentle ridge of mountains densely carpeted with lush pine and olive trees forms the background of Mitlini town, capital of Lesvos Island. Leave the capital of the island and after 1 km of drive arrive in the traditional ouzo distillery of the island , known as “EVA”. Enjoy a tour in the old factory where the specialist of the establishment will explain you in every detail the procedure of making the favourite drink of Greeks, the ouzo! During your visit you will have the opportunity to taste ouzo & buy a bottle of ouzo or two ,if you wish, as a souvenir of this great experience. Leave the distillery of EPOM for a  scenic tour with destination the museums of Terriade & Theofilos.  First stop is the museum of Terriade. Here you will see the exhibition of Terriade's 29 "Great Books." Among the exhibits are five books illustrated by Chagall. ." In the Museum are also exhibited works by: Baudin, Bornard, Bores, Giacometti, Grimaire, Laurence, Le Corbusier, Leger, Matisse, Miro, Picasso, as well as by: Giorgos Vakirtzis, Theophilos Hadjimichail, Manolis Kalliyiannis, Orestis Kanellis, Callirhoe Marouda, Giorgos Rorris, Yiannis Tsarouchis. Leave Terriades museum and move further to the next by Theofilos Museum with works by Greece's best-loved painter, Theofilos. The museum was constructed in 1965 by the famous art critic Strati Eleftheriadi, known as Terriade who initiated the financing of the museum and donated it to the Municipality of Mytilini. The museum has five exhibition rooms which house 86 works of the popular painter. Among Theofilos’ finest works are “Limnios Kehagias”, “the gulf of Yera” and “Trata" based on the traditional dance of the same name. The walls are also hung with lithographs from the Great Books by, amongst others Picasso, Matisse and Chagall.
