Take the chance to discover the history of Preveza’s surroundings, some of them dating back to 1st century BC

We depart in the morning from the port of Preveza. 8 km far from the town of Preveza is located Anc. Nikopolis. Nikopolis was built the 1st century BC and the strategic position of this city was the reason that became one of the largest decorative and commercial centres. Many finds from Nikopolis are exhibited at the Arc. Museum, which is inside the site.

Kassiopi is 20 km north from Nikopolis. The size of the city, the agora, two theatres, and prytaneion, unearthed by the archaeologists, all indicated that it was the tribe’s cultural centre. The hill of Zalogo rises on the east of the site. In this exact place on December 18 of 1803, when Ali Pasha, Turk governor  arrived, a crowd of women with their children, instead of choosing dishonour and captivity, throw their selves to the cliff after a dance, known as the “Zalogo’s Dance”.

After the visit of Kassiopi, we shall make a stop in Kamarina village, where we shall have some free time for a coffee or a soft drink.

Then, we rejoin the bus and we drive back to the port of Preveza.
