Select this tour to wander in the medieval alleys of Siena; admire the frescos of San  Domenico church, breath the reviving countryside air around the farmhouse and do no miss photographing some of the many San Gimignano towers expanding to the sky.

Departure  by A/C deluxe coach  and driving along the Tuscan countryside  you reach  Siena . it  is a city of steep medieval alleys, surrounding the Piazza del Campo. The building  around the Square symbolize the golden age of the city between 1260 and 1348, when  wealthy citizens contributed to a major programme of civic building.

Meet with the local guide and beginning of the guided tour  to the church of San  Domenico, which contains the relics of the famous Saint Catherine, patron saint of Italy and Europe. There are also beautiful frescoes by Sodoma dedicated to her in the chapel, where there is her preserved head. Piazza del Duomo, with its magnificent cathedral in black and white  marble, which was built on Siena’s highest hill. The Cathedral, dedicated to  Saint Mary of the Assumption, has a beautiful inlaid marble floor and a  famous Pulpit by Nicola Pisano, with scenes from The Life of Christ. The shell shaped Piazza del Campo, considered to be the most beautiful Italian square, with its original 13th century palaces (among these the most impressive is the Palazzo Pubblico, which has been the seat of government since the 13th century). The 102 metres high Bell Tower, known as the Torre del Mangia, offers a beautiful view across Tuscany.

Board the coach and  drive towards the farmhouse where guests will visit the wine cellars, taste the wine while enjoying lunch . Reboard the coach and drive towards San Gimignano. The distinctive skyline of San Gimignano, with its many towers, must have been a welcome sight for the faithful in the Middle Ages, for the town lay on the main pilgrim route from Northern Europe to Rome. This gave rise to its prosperity at that time, when its population was twice what it is today. You can see Via San Giovanni, the main road with many interesting churches, palaces and shops.  Piazza della Cisterna, dominated by the presence of a big well, used since the very past.   Piazza del Duomo, the heart of the town, with three significant medieval buildings.  The “Rocca” (fortress), built in 1353 by the Florentines. It has today only one surviving tower. It encloses a public garden filled with fig and olive trees. From there you can enjoy the best view over the vineyards where wine has been  produced for hundred of years.  Departure from San Gimignano  to drive back to Leghorn
